Hometown Hero: Darren Gunter

I am nominating my Husband Tech Sergeant Darren Gunter. He is stationed here at Ft Meade Maryland. He is originally from Rome Georgia. He has been in the military serving the United States Air Force for 16 yrs now. He has been to Germany, Hungary,, Korea, and various US states in his service to the Military. He and I will celebrate 10 yrs of Marriage this coming Oct 6 and then I turn 35 Oct 8th. He is a wonderful loving father to our three sons Tyler 12, Benjamin 7 and Wesley 4.

We meet through a blind date 11 yrs ago through my best friend from age 3 . We both wore pink color tops and black shorts almost matched perfectly. We went on a date in July 1994 and have been together ever since.

Tyler our oldest has a disability in the form of Aspergers Syndrome which is a form of Autism and he struggles every day with us and his brothers to have some peace.

We also have a 4 yr old son that has a disability with a speech delay.

My husband besides working midnight to 8 am is very involved in working with the boys with homework , basketball playing, fishing and kickball playing.

He is a candle lover he loves Wild Cherry , Baked Apple pie and other scents. He is always buying candles and loves to find new scents more than me . The only thing besides candles he loves to buy is his obsession with buying Tennis shoes.

He is our hero every day hardly buying for himself and gives a lot to me and our sons.
